So who are the WidgetMonkeys?
Widget Monkeys was founded in 2005 by David Janik-Jones and Ron Letkeman. We created our first Dashboard widget, the now (in)famous Widget Monkey as a test of the new Unity game engine. Our goal was to create fully 3D, physics-based family-friendly "toy" widgets that were simply fun to play with.
At the time we imagined that maybe a few hundred people might think they were cool and download them. Then we hit Apple's Top 10 Dashboard widget list (several times) and people started downloading them like mad. Three years later and we've reached more than 850,000 downloads and should reach 1,000,000 ! downloads in early 2009. That's a lot of bananas as they say around here.
And now that the Unity game engine can create full iPhone and iPod touch applications without needing to code anything in Xcode and the iPhone SDK (coming October 22, 2008), you can expect much more "seriously simple fun" from the Widget Monkeys.
So what are you waiting for, go grab one of our wildly popular iPhone and iPod touch widget games on the iPhone App Store for only $0.99, or new versions of Banana Warehouse and Monkey Marbles. And you can still download our Dashboard widget versions for free! Go now!
