Ron and David (aka the chief monkeys) are finally ready to announce that development on the Widget Monkeys' upcoming stand-alone game Banana Warehouse 2 game is well underway!
Banana Warehouse 2 is a full Mac and PC game based on our popular Banana Warehouse widget, and will feature all the cool things we've been talking about for the past, uh, long time. Three play levels, fabulous music and sound effects, online high scores, updated graphics and high-res 3D models, dynamic lighting, fully functional forklift (yes, the forks will raise/lower and tip!), new camera views (including a driver view), and much more.
Banana Warehouse 2 will be the first of a series of minigames based on the fun gameplay we've established in our well-regarded widgets. Other games in the series will include a forklift racing game, a first-person "gather the bananas" race, and a game featuring ships, cranes and crates of bananas. Future versions of our games may even feature online multiplayer action!
Banana Warehouse 2 will be built using the best game engine in the world, Unity 2.0. Watch for a release of Banana Warehouse 2 in the late fall of 2007.
Just when you thought it was safe to go wandering among the banana trees again, the WidgetMonkey guys announce that they might be working on several, cool, new little surprises. One might be something like a FPS-style tank arcade game, while the other might be a cross between pachinko and a physics demonstration. And perhaps another wobbly widget of some shape or another (that is a clue, btw). And no amount of bananas sent as bribes will get you any more info than that. Eep! We're planning on releasing these as free Dashboard widgets to add to our family of seriously simply fun widgets.
Remember those clear plastic toys filled with water with a single button? You pressed the button and a jet of water shot up inside the sealed container making little plastic rings or balls float up and land on platforms or on a peg or into a hole. Grasping the banana, yet? Yes, the WidgetMonkeys are now at work on a new time-wasting, 3D widget game stolen right out of your childhood. We think that the simple games are the most fun to play and we'll bet a bunch of bananas that this one will be even more popular than the original WidgetMonkey (or your money back, oh wait, it's free again!). We're planning on releasing both a free Dashboard widget and an under $20 shareware application.
Even simpler than the original WidgetMonkey or the upcoming water game! A simple snow globe that you shake and watch the snowflakes gently drift out of the "sky." Complete with a frozen monkey (who'll look remarkably like a traditional snowman) and lots of little snowflake particles. Just something to pass the time. Due for release when us monkeys get it done, OK? This one will most likely only be available as a free Dashboard widget.
